Everything you need to get monitoring right.

Short, practical guides — no fluff. Can't find your answer? Check the FAQs or contact us.

Getting started

Create your first monitor

From your dashboard, go to Monitors → New Monitor, pick a type (HTTP is the fastest to set up), point it at your URL, and choose a check interval. AlertSpy starts checking immediately — you'll see your first result within one interval.

Choosing the right monitor type

Use an HTTP(s) monitor for websites and APIs, a keyword monitor if you need to confirm specific page content, ping or port monitors for infrastructure that doesn't speak HTTP, and Prometheus or Loki monitors if you already run those and want AlertSpy watching the same signals without a second dashboard.

Monitors & checks

Understanding check intervals

Your plan determines the fastest interval available, from 5-minute checks on Free down to 30-second checks on Enterprise. Faster intervals catch problems sooner but aren't necessary for everything — a marketing page can tolerate a slower check than a payment API.

What happens when a monitor goes down

AlertSpy opens an incident the moment a check fails, and keeps a full timeline as it retries, escalates, and eventually recovers. Everyone on the notification channels tied to that monitor gets alerted, and the incident stays visible in your dashboard until it's resolved.

Alerts & notifications

Setting up notification channels

Add a notification channel from your account settings, then attach it to the monitors or alert rules you want it to cover. You can run multiple channels — for example, a low-urgency channel for warnings and a paging channel for outright downtime.

Writing alert rules that don't spam you

Alert rules let you match on severity, monitor type, or signal source before anything actually pages someone. Start narrow — route only the failures that need immediate action to your loudest channel, and let everything else land somewhere quieter you can check on your own time.

Status pages

Publishing your first status page

Create a status page from your dashboard, choose which monitors to display, and publish it. Your page gets a shareable URL you can link from your site or support docs, so customers can check for themselves instead of opening a ticket.

Team & billing

Adding team members

On Team and Enterprise plans, invite teammates from your account settings so they can see incidents and manage monitors without sharing a login. Each seat counts toward your plan's team member limit.

Upgrading or downgrading your plan

Change plans any time from your account's plan page. Upgrades apply immediately with a prorated charge; downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle, and anything over your new plan's monitor limit is paused rather than deleted.
